Mass distribution/encouragement of antidepressants.
- Damogran6 4y agoThat doesn’t seem to be a correlative factor. How would medically treating depression increase gun volence?
- artificialLimbs 4y agoGo find out how many of these shooters were taking these drugs. Edit: In case you're busy: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3513220/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3513220/
- tenacious_tuna 4y agoIs there not selection bias in this? That people being treated for mental illness have high incidence of mental illness?
- nradov 4y agoThere is evidence that some antidepressants cause "violent suicidal preoccupation". But it's unclear whether that is a significant factor behind the increase in mass shootings. https://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/doi/abs/10.1176/ajp.147.2.207 https://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/doi/abs/10.1176/ajp.147.2.2... https://journals.plos.org/plosmedicine/article?id=10.1371/journal.pmed.0030372 https://journals.plos.org/plosmedicine/article?id=10.1371/jo... https://journals.plos.org/plosmedicine/article?id=10.1371/journal.pmed.1001875 https://journals.plos.org/plosmedicine/article?id=10.1371/jo...
- renaudg 4y agoAgain this isn't unique to the US. Shootings are.
