Online Confessions, deleted after 200 views

- JasonFruit 4y agoNot today, FBI, not today.
- willis936 4y agoBut one day? That counts right? Bring him in boys.
- 1123581321 4y agoAm I burning those 200 views if I see the same confession multiple times? The random selector can show you ones you’ve just seen. That or Sarah Pearson’s been extra busy.
- baking 4y agoMaybe someone is cutting and pasting the same confession ever and over again.
- TSiege 4y agoThis desperately needs moderation
- dr_dshiv 4y agoWow, that’s toxic. Just read a screed on n*ggers. Hope the person felt better. Wow. Intense.
- asveikau 4y agoI'm sure I'm not the only one here who remembers trolls on slashdot back in the day. There was one consistent theme about "gay n-word". GNAA. That's what I'm suddenly reminded of. In hindsight I think some of that old trolling was people's mental health problems on display.

- baking 4y agoThis is bad. This is very, very, bad. No thanks.
- mkathuri 4y agoIE8 is my favorite browser...
- ratww 4y agoNow that's a confession!
- excerionsforte 4y agoNo quality control on the site and seeing very spammy racist messages on the site. Had to close this dumpster fire.
- ratww 4y agoI see either racist stuff or someone who spammed hundreds of messages to get a job.
- civilized 4y agoLooks like someone is flooding it with copies of an N-word-ridden rant, making it hard to find any other content. EDIT: and now it's anti-Semitic conspiracy. And now it's down.

- philliphaydon 4y agoBack in early 2000 there was a confession website. I forget the name. But man some of the confessions on there… can’t unread that stuff 20 years later…
- dcx 4y agoPostSecret? It looks like it's possibly still running actually - https://postsecret.com/ https://postsecret.com/
- philliphaydon 4y agoNa it was similar to the OPs site but better looking… it had the word “hug” in it.

- chris72205 4y agoOne I remember was GroupHug or similar name. There were numerous IRC bots at the time that would post stories/confessions from it.
- philliphaydon 4y agoGroupHug! https://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=497057 https://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=497057 Just found that searching it.
- superkuh 4y agoThese type of sites were very popular in the late 90s/early 2000s. The most famous one was probably lowbrow.com, https://web.archive.org/web/19990428052738/http://www.lowbrow.com/ https://web.archive.org/web/19990428052738/http://www.lowbro... I suppose with all the spillover from the web back into real life these days the view limit is needed. Lowbrow stored stories until lowbrow stopped existing. There's another "anonymous message server" I've been using since the late 90s where you just get whatever the person before you to the site wrote. It is amazingly still going today but I think linking it on HN would kill it.
- sshine 4y agoSome experiences don’t translate well to a mass audience. Like your favourite spot in nature.
- CM30 4y agoHmm seems like either the randomisation function is very, very broken or the same confessions have been entered thousands of times, since I've seen the same two confessions about ten times so far. Quality control seems questionable too, but hey, maybe I'd disagree if I saw a more varied set of answers.
- mnd999 4y agoElon’s Twitter 2.0 prototype?
- ben_w 4y agoInteresting. Judging by how many I had to read before I saw my own, I suspect it has about twice as many viewers as confessors.
