This is a huge political gift to the Democrats going into November but that aside, the world is a very different place than it was in 1973. Back then long distance communications were expensive and knowledge of services available outside of your local area were very limited. Pretty much everyone in 2022 has instant access to information about family planning clinics coast to coast. Social groups that want to assist will have a much easier time of it than they would have in 1973. The threats of states to make abortions that take place in another state a criminal offense are unlikely to withstand Constitutional challenge, with the conservatives on the court being the biggest defenders of the right of each state to set its own laws without interference from other states or the federal government.

The right has no real principles, merely instrumental ones. They will not stop until their dream of a Christofascist nation is a reality. They must be stopped at any cost--some sort of civil conflict is a real possibility.

The conservatives on the court are unlikely to be consistent on this matter. "Abortion bad" is their guiding principle. What leads you to think the current court will do any more than create the most flimsy pretense otherwise?
