Ford Motor layoff – 580 engineers
- alimov 4y ago> Ford CEO Jim Farley has said the company needs "totally different talent." Wonder what kind of talent they believe they need (linked in the article opened a paywalled article:/)
- wyldfire 4y agoCars are pretty different from how they were just twenty years ago. Different propulsion, different fuel, totally new driver assistance features and tons more software. That probably leads to the need for different talent.
- fy20 4y agoYou'd think that but from TFA: > The job reductions come from both Ford Blue and Ford Model e teams Ford Blue makes hybrid tech, and Ford Model e is responsible for EVs.
- browningstreet 4y agoPretty late in their product roll-out cycle to make this determination. And I wonder who in the org was qualified to decide who could and couldn’t be part of the new talent mix.
- sitkack 4y agoI always assume it is to avoid pension payouts until otherwise corrected.
- dankboys 4y agoNot to mention that they'll have to increasingly invest in infotainment and their software package as cars become places people spend more time (while charging)
- nunez 4y ago> The Dearborn automaker is providing a package of benefits to the eligible 350 employees, including severance equal to up to nine months of pay based on service, benefits continuation for up to nine months based on service, and career transition services, the company told the Free Press. There's probably some propaganda in here given the source, but honestly that's not a bad deal given the crappy situation.
