Russia Legalizes Shady Imports of AMD, Intel and Apple Goods to Dodge Sanctions
- car_analogy 5y ago> So-called "gray markets" usually operate on thin legal grounds. Suppliers in a gray market usually take advantage of price differences and arbitrage opportunities by acquiring goods in official (and sometimes even unofficial channels) wherever products' MSRP is set at comparatively lower values, finally importing them towards other markets. Is this article serious? What this paragraph describes is perfectly legitimate trade - legally buy an item where its cheap, and sell it where it costs more. Why would this be "shady"? If anything, it's the overreach by copy- and trademark holders trying to dictate who you're allowed to sell to even after they've already sold you an item that is shady. In fact, parallel imports (the term used for what this article calls "shady imports") are perfectly legal in the US and EU [1], so a better title would be "Russia synchronizes its trade law with that of the US and EU".
