Android may get an upswing once it finally adopts Fuschia with a "classic" Android compatibility layer (at least that's what I think they will do).
But they will certainly have to push for devices with longer support than 3 years to keep that upswing.
- MBCook 4y agoCould you explain your comment? I don’t really follow android development. Was Fuschia the new OS Google was writing from scratch? Why do you think that will make a big difference?
- lizardactivist 4y agoYes Fuschia is the new OS from Google, and I believe (and I may be wrong) they will eventually use this as the basis for newer versions of Android, together with a compatibility layer to provide a smooth transition. From what Google, and other knowledgeable people who have studied the project (it's open source) say, the big differences will be in performance, memory efficiency, and security. I'm not knowledgeable about the internals of the current Android, but to me it has always seemed like a big pile of bolted-on technologies, unable to perform efficiently in any area. But I could be wrong.
