Ask HN: What happened to archive.md/is/ph/vn?
I noticed a lot of HNers using archive.md (or its other mirrors like archive.vn or archive.is) to get around soft paywalls on certain submitted news articles. However, none of these archive sites work anymore (or work sporadically), returning SSL errors or DNS errors. Does anyone know what happened?
- pwdisswordfish9 5y agoWorks for me. Do you have CloudFlare DNS? https://blog.archive.today/post/681415425930723328/%D0%BF%D1%96%D0%B4%D0%BA%D0%BB%D1%8E%D1%87%D0%B5%D0%BD%D0%BD%D1%8F-%D0%B4%D0%BB%D1%8F-%D1%86%D1%8C%D0%BE%D0%B3%D0%BE-%D1%81%D0%B0%D0%B9%D1%82%D1%83-%D0%BD%D0%B5-%D0%B7%D0%B0%D1%85%D0%B8%D1%89%D0%B5%D0%BD%D0%BE https://blog.archive.today/post/681415425930723328/%D0%BF%D1...
- cpach 5y agoFor the record, it works fine with Google’s DNS.
- xen2xen1 5y agoIIRC the archive.* have a philosophical difference about DNS or SSL or some such and thus things come up as broken due to intention configuration choices. I'll bet they actually work if you keep clicking..

- res0nat0r 5y agoIf you're using Cloudflare DNS, archive.is etc will fail to resolve. https://jarv.is/notes/cloudflare-dns-archive-is-blocked/ https://jarv.is/notes/cloudflare-dns-archive-is-blocked/
- amock 5y agoIt doesn't work in Firefox for me, but other browsers work.
