OpenBSD Webzine #9
- traceroute66 4y agoCome on guys, there's already a thread going on OpenBSD 7.1.[1] Seems to be a trend of increasing duplication recently on HN. [1]https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31109046 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31109046
- brynet 4y agoThe webzine mentions the OpenBSD 7.1 release, but is a separate story and a worthy glance into the goings on in the OpenBSD community.
- sophacles 4y agoWierd the page linked in your discussion has no mention of running in qemu, iBlock and gaming updates. Perhaps they aren't duplicate? Also, if you're worried about running out of things on the front page, check out the "more" link at the bottom and the "new" link at the top of the page!
- sigzero 4y agoThis is more than just the 7.1 release.
- hcal 4y agoEvery release of the magazine seems to make the front page. Its not specifically about the never OpenBSD version.
- beepbooptheory 4y agoThese are so charming, with the community art and all the news. Makes me want to be an OpenBSD person more than anything else.
- Panino 4y ago> it's now easier to install OpenBSD on Apple M1 computers and should be usable for day to day operations That is very tempting. M1 has incredible PPW (performance per watt), more than double other machines. > httpd supports serving pre-compressed gz static files to reduce bandwidth usage (we use it at the webzine) This is a valuable feature. I've been using this for years, first with a patched publicfile (webserver by DJB) and then with nginx. You can use zopfli to compress resources that are rarely changed (like CSS) or are heavily requested, for even better compression than gzip(1). It would be cool to support brotli in the same way. Love the art!
