I followed the math but I don’t know ML… Do practitioners really use “energy” and “conservation of energy”? That just seems overly confusing.
- dekhn 5y agoI've never heard the term used before in ML or statistical modelling.
- ylks 5y agoEnergy is a shorthand for L2 norm (in a probabilistic sense). This similar to the definition of the energy of a signal in signal processing. 'Information content' is an alternative for 'energy' here, but it can be mistaken for entropy.
