I hope anyone notices this little post: go read Stanislaw Lem's Golem XIV for the best philosophical take on this AI alarmism.
OP extrapolates from highly competitive, adversarial society they are living in that AGI will be smart and evil. Lem argues that these two are incompatible.
- bsenftner 5y agoSuperior intelligence and evil are clearly incompatible, as being "evil" is short sighted, is often logically a failure, often secretive, attempting to control information, is often defeatist, and nearly always selfish despite the logic of selflessness and cooperation being clearly more beneficial overall. It will be the selfish Capitalists, the Oligarchs and Orwellian Leaders having their empires dismantled by any such AGI who will declare the AGI some Great Evil. While the impoverished rest of humanity will see their Messiah and savior in the form of fair logic forcefully impressed by living pure reason.
