When you say OS, do you mean kernel or kernel and the daemons?
- jokoon 5y agoBoth. Also everything that has low memory, like embedded systems. Anything that is real time cannot have a GC, because GC are unpredictable. So everything in aircraft, space, when it has time sensitive machinery...

- bborud 5y agoAnything that can't have a gc probaly can't use a regular memory allocator either (since they aren't necessarily easy to predict). So you would be left with static allocation and stack variables.
