I'm not saying you're wrong, but this is another decade-long battle. I have a few laptops here, the newest is from 2016 - none of them has USB-C and they all still work and will probably be in use for another few years. My 1y old work Latitude (attached to a docking station via USB-C, but the wallplug charger is a proprietary one) is being replaced with another Latitude which only has USB-C. So because I didn't notice that I need a new charger now I can only run the new one on battery or with the docking station until I get to the office.. Great, I just managed to have the one breaking change :P

But that means any USB-C PD Compliant charger should work for your laptop now, right?

  Yes, but my point is that a mobile phone wall plug won't do it and none of my private laptops have one, so I'd still have to buy one and hope it will work for this and future devices.
