I wish it was called something like "f**-putin.com".
It's weird how comfortable people are blaming the nation and people of Russia, as if they have a choice in their leadership. It's also weird how high the overlap is between people who champion this anti-Russia rhetoric and simultaneously view equivalent criticisms of China as xenophobic.
FWIW, I hold the same line of reasoning with China: Blame Xi, not the humans subjugated by him.
- matkoniecz 5y agoWell, there are various indicators that Putin is supported by majority of Russia and Russians. And little to indicate that opposition to Putin has larger popularity. For me "fuck Russia" is OK, though I would be strongly opposed to "fuck Russians".
- dreen 5y agoThis is partially true but Putin and Xi dont happen in a vacuum. Stalin or Hitler didnt happen in a vacuum. The sanctions put on Russia are also meant to affect civilians, as they are partially responsible for the war. And the west will pay some price for the sanctions too, because they share a part of the responsibility too. However, I agree the author should have picked a better domain name.
