Kudos to stack exchange. I just read about how ERP solution providers did stop their service. This is counter productive and I believe these companies use this conflict for very cheap advertising. Shame on you SAP, shame on you Salesforce. You should be yesterdays ERP systems since civil society should always make a better example than politics. Same is true for the Olympics.
- dlahoda 5y agoany developer who is paying taxes in russia pays for agression directly. this seems like real war and war which may avoid nuclear one. so yeah, some apolitical developers will suffer, thoose who has no money in crypto before conflict. i myself suffered from sanctions like that. i am belarus living in ukrain kyev for half year. and my accounts where blocked on some job seeking site. they did not unblocked after i sent them my ukraine id and my shot of anti lukashenko posts 15 years ago(long before others started to protest). so it makes me even more crypto/anarchy oriented than before. ukrain now is very nationalistic, which ok. so it makes life of edge like me dangerous.
- raxxorrax 5y agoI am sure that many people are not really content with the choices of their government and you have to be a bit careful to express that under certain circumstances. Only very rich people can allow themselves to not pay taxes. I did not sanction random Americans when they invaded Iraq. It isn't entirely comparable, but that sounds pretty stupid, doesn't it? It also doesn't sound like a deescalation tactic to me and might even fortify support for Putin if you sanction people that cannot influence the situation at all. It even lends credence to the narrative of Putin that Russians are discriminated against.
- tanseydavid 5y ago>> any developer who is paying taxes in russia pays for agression directly. This is not a true statement. People do not have the option to stop paying taxes because they disagree with policies or actions of their government.
- tinus_hn 5y agoYet these companies did stop paying taxes, as they stopped selling their services.
