Valve releases Steam Deck handheld PC
- paulryanrogers 5y agoBased on early reviews I'm excited but will wait for V2 with better screen and fewer software glitches
- m-p-3 5y agoUsually a wise move, I do the same with the mainstream game consoles. I waitied for the PS4 slim to come out, and it happened to be a great decision as the original PS4 didn't have a 5GHz wireless adapter. I know playing online using a wireless connection isn't ideal, but it's better to play on 5GHz than on the already crowded 2.4GHz.
- rasz 5y agoYou think second gen will include VRR?
- paulryanrogers 5y agoI'm hopeful. There are rumors and Quest 2 proves it's possible. Though likely as a kind of attachment which would be corded to the handheld. Still, at the end of the day I'd just like a PC handheld with a wide library and built-in hackability.
- Something1234 5y agoAnd yet I didn't receive my order now email yet. So stupid.
- vehemenz 5y agoI paid my deposit within the first 15 minutes of the preorder, and my reservation was still pushed to Q2 2022. I'm not sure if this means the demand was initially high or if the first shipments will be limited. Probably both. Either way, if you didn't order with the first two minutes or so, you'll have to wait. Unless you are willing to pay $1000 for a reservation on eBay.
- Ekaros 5y agoYeah, following some of the communities it feels that number of units in this batch is very limited. And even somewhat random. It seems it was mostly done just so Valve can say the actually "released" it in February even if there was zero possibility of consumer getting unit.
- hiimshort 5y agoIt seems that the lower price models are going out first if reports by reviewers are to be believed. I managed to reserve the high-end model around minute 5 of release. My order is also lumped into the "After Q2" timeslot. I expected to have to wait, but I can't help remember my luck eith the Valve Index which I managed to get within the first minute. The Index shipped and was delivered within four days (it got there that weekend). Still excited for the Steam Deck, it looks quite promising.
