The main argument being that by the time of the atomic bombs, all powers had scaled their "strategic bombings" of civilians to a level that made the atomic bombs just a small step in the logical conclusion of the path of the war. We should not judge the atomic bombings without the context of US, UK, USSR and Japanese bombings of civilians.
