A Full List of Denied Vanity License Plates – Oregon DMV 2021
- mrlonglong 5y agoPersonalised plates suck as it's an statement of eliteness. France doesn't allow them at all.
- quantified 5y agoIf they cost more, your point seems valid. If they cost the same regardless, would you still charge eliteness? I didn’t check on Oregon, but some US states like New Hampshire don’t charge anything more, you’re basically not using your intellect and imagination if you don’t try.
- mrlonglong 5y agoThey do cost more in my home country. Ticks me right off when I see personalised plates sell for hundreds or thousands. I was once offered L1 NUX but it was out of my price range.
- quantified 5y agoPremium pricing defines a flavor of elitism, you didn’t specify the currency but I take it a thousand is more than a pack of cigarettes.
- mrlonglong 5y agoMany times more.
- version_five 5y agoThis was worth reading. Some of them are pretty funny, even if inappropriate for a license plate. I was most surprised that references to alcohol are illegal, e.g. MERLOT or DISTLR which really don't seem like a problem. As well as TOPLES which is a pretty logical one for a convertible and hard for me at least to see why you wouldn't let someone have it. Something like HIGH AF on the other hand I get it (even if personally I think it's fine)
- quantified 5y agoCannabis ones too: it IS Oregon.
- friendlydog 5y agoWhiskey is part of the NATO alphabet and should be allowed. Most alcohol probably should be as well, come to think of it they should allow them all.
- etatoby 5y agoThey should all be either allowed or denied. Why are UR-MOM or F-YOU considered offensive, while newer memes and slang that may be even more offensive can probably pass through the radar? Either allow everything, or deny vanity plates altogether.
- quantified 5y agoWonder how in touch the censors are with slang.
- iskabbksksmab 5y agoIn Australia we have provisional licenses which have certain restrictions like passenger count, curfew etc. A person with a provisional license much display an ‘L’ or a ‘P’ plate on the vehicle, commonly placed beside the license plate. I had a great idea to buy the plate ‘ENIS’ and put the P plate beside it but I had already finished my provisional and was on my open license by the time I thought of it. I hope another zoomer can carry the torch for me.
