WTF
Why would someone do this? Like he's going out of his way to come up with bad, confusing variable names. More and more I think there are a set of programmers who just want to make the code worse.
- whydid 5y agoNot sure if this is a rhetorical question- I've worked with people who have similar quirks, and power-posturing (possibly subconsciously) was only way I could rationalize their behavior. If I create a bespoke mess, and you need to figure it out, then I have power over you.
- mikotodomo 5y agoIt was an honest question. I don't understand it. But wait, are you saying people are doing this deliberately to prevent others from taking their work?
- d23 5y agoThere are unfortunately a lot of career upsides to making things more difficult and complex than they need to be. Making things simple and straightforward is often has neutral career outcomes at best, and if you consider the downstream effects, can actually be negative (oh he did that thing we all thought would be super difficult and look how straightforward it turned out to be; must not be that hard).
