That's good because if there were no properly functioning woks in NYC I would be pretty pissed.

- TulliusCicero 5y agoI use my wok with induction stovetops and it seems to work fine. I didn’t intentionally buy it for induction, so I was pleased to see it worked anyway.
- bpicolo 5y agoCommercial woks put out 5-10x the heat of a home range. Commercial induction exists too, but needs a lot more power than a home setup
- sitkack 5y agoI wonder what it would be like to cook with a 60-100kw inductive wok? At 100kw, 55 seconds at full power would be enough to melt a 10kg iron wok.
- TulliusCicero 5y agoI mean either way you need a specialized version for commercial use yeah, so not sure how it’s different.
- kibwen 5y agoThere are also induction cooktops specifically designed for the shape of woks. Which makes sense, seeing as how China is currently the largest adopter of induction cooktops.
- Ericson2314 5y agoI didn't know, neat!
- SECProto 5y agoI was looking at commercial induction woks earlier - they use on the order of 15kW per wok, so about 51,000 BTU burner - but all the heat goes into the pan instead of the hood, so more equivalent to a 150k BTU gas burner
