Isn't there some way to treat the straw to slow it down or stop it from catching fire? Or does that mess with the tradition?
- klondike_ 5y agoThey already coat it with fireproofing material, but it tends to wash off when it's wet. Also, a hot enough fire will just burn through it anyways
- t0mas88 5y agoI think the organisers don't really want the tradition. They put fences, cameras, asked the police etc.

- Mountain_Skies 5y agoThey've done various levels of fireproofing it over the years but it discolors the straw so the more they put on, the safer it is but the uglier it looks.
