McDonald to circumvent San Francisco's Happy meal ban by charging for toy
- codeddesign 5y agoFirst you take away their juice box straws, and now their happy meal toys?? “allows them to continue marketing this unhealthful food to children in the midst of an obesity crisis.” How about tax the happy meals to help pay for awareness, limit govt benefits to parents with obese children, or at minimum provide health education. Time and tax dollars were spent while the end result is the same. Welcome to SF..
- imtringued 5y agoWhy do regulators go after the toy if the food is the problem? Is the food industry untouchable?
- euroderf 5y agoMandate that the toys (i.e. non-food items targeted at kids) have to be unbundled - offered for sale separately (at a reasonable price, ofc). Works in Scandinavia. The McD's in Helsinki have bins of Crappy Meal toys for sale.
- willcipriano 5y agoMy daughter is three and over the course of her life she has had perhaps 5 happy meals. One every six months on average. She's not obese, a little underweight for her height in fact. I use it as a reward. It's a experience for her, the drive thru, eating with me, playing with the toy. The best thing about it is it's affordable and she will actually eat the food. Why is this a bad thing that needs to be regulated away?
