Empathy-based counter speech can reduce hate speech
- raxxorrax 5y ago> Online hate speech has become a pressing issue worldwide Online hate speech is a pretext for people that want to influence online content. Other people can pretty much just withdraw from it. That said, counter speech is very much welcome instead of surveillance and prosecuting Twitter comments, which is unacceptable in my opinion. But the sentiment is not at all irrational for some people. We currently have a system where it is more important to satisfy the feelings of an incompetent "elite" that has to prove to itself that it is cosmopolitan, but does this purely on the backs of others. That is pretty expensive for many people and having subeducated "academics" calling them privileged is the last straw. It is a problem with the head. There is nearly no exception. I am anticipating this empathy and how it looks like...
