Say Goodbye to the 1% Investment-Adviser Fee?
- BayAreaEscapee 5y agoNormally, WSJ is behind an annoying paywall. But at the moment, the whole thing is down! I've been trying to read this page for twenty minutes and I keep getting a 503 error. Perhaps WSJ is hosting on AWS, which is partially down: https://us-east-1.console.aws.amazon.com/console/home https://us-east-1.console.aws.amazon.com/console/home https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=29473630 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=29473630 EDIT: seems to be back up now after an hour or so
- anamax 5y agoIs the fee going away or just being hidden, aka bundled into other things?
- 1123581321 5y agoIt’s not being hidden. Though, hourly or fee-based advice can be equivalent depending on the price and the portfolio size.

- naveen99 5y agoEven 1% is hard for new investment advisers to make money on for new / small wealth managers given the regulatory requirements for maintaining compliance with state regulators. And for bigger wealth managers beating the market becomes harder, but their clients are ok with just not losing money sometimes, give they are constantly fighting inflation and massive rapid repricing or tax changes that they can’t quickly escape.
