That government would need a biometric ID is such a scam. I hate that Europe made it mandatory for everyone. Nothing is gained by this at all. It didn't improve anything either. Parts of Europe have indeed difficulties with human trafficking and similar crimes. Guess what, the situation didn't improve while states created a lot of liability. Sure, there are no central DBs and the biometric info is saved on the ID itself, hopefully decently encrypted. Not judging people that send their ID on the microwave tour. Democratic nations could have set an example here.
