GM is a strategic resource, so this only makes sense. I’m a little shocked they didn’t have second sources for their chips here in the US already.

GM is a strategic resource, so this only makes sense. I’m a little shocked they didn’t have second sources for their chips here in the US already.
- madengr 5y agoYou really can’t 2nd source modern microcontrollers. You may find other manufacturers with the same microprocessor core, but the peripherals change enough that you’ll have to re-write the software. The older microcontrollers that they can 2nd source with pin for pin compatibility are enough to drive the car off the line, but nothing else works.
