Why Clubhouse Is No Longer the Funhouse
- richartruddie 5y agoSome perspective on Clubhouse being in the dog house after being off to a super hot start the company has been losing users each month and here is why.
- PaulHoule 5y agoThat Eternal September. When Quora started they got Jack Welsh to answer questions about GE. That’s star power. Am I going to register to read answers from armchair quarterbacks, no way!
- 1cvmask 5y agoThe vaccinations were their biggest enemy and the end of lockdowns. Rolling out Android late was an avoidable error giving their funding.
- echelon 5y agoYou can't fight Facebook and Twitter on a feature that is adjacent to what they already offer. It's a losing battle.
- rvz 5y agoTLDR: Being copied to death by the big competitors whilst both releasing the Android app and opening the invite system late, killed the hype. I first asked about it's ridiculous valuation months ago. [0] Then about it being copied to death by the competition after it's 1 year head start, [1] and now the aftermath of the VCs still spamming the notifications to try to restart the hype train despite everyone leaving the app. Quite unsurprising here, and just 'as expected'. It was heavily promoted in VC-adjacent circles in San Francisco but that doesn't translate into mainstream adoption and the access to elites which gave it the initial cachet is basically of the opposite of scaling since too many requests for attention will kill participation by the big names.
- MomoXenosaga 5y agoI see a lot of crazy valuations in the tech industry. Makes me wonder if I'm crazy or if its the kids that are wrong. Throwing million dollar darts at the billboard.
- mrkramer 5y agoInflation is eating investors' money now more than ever they need to invest it somewhere or risk losing lots of it.
- mrkramer 5y agoClubhouse was boosted by Andreessen Horowitz. Clubhouse is not a platform it is a feature to be copied and conquered by all other social networks.
- kgin 5y agoYou can’t scale exclusivity
- 1123581321 5y agoClubhouse was a fun novelty, but listening to meandering conversations with long pauses quickly lost its appeal compared to sped-up podcasts which offered similar conversations.
