You are right. I don’t think people mean Cabrini Green when they say affordable housing. They mean 1000-1500 square foot normal houses, condos, and apartments, built in sufficient quantity to satisfy demand. As it stands many California cities do not allow anything to be built at all or make it so hard that it can only be profitable to build higher margin luxury housing.
