Confused Xerox copiers rewrite scanned documents, expert finds (2013)
- rubinlinux 5y agoTo me, this is why the whole pinch-to-zoom debate of the recent trial was legit. You really don't know what changes to pixels technology is making unless you look at the code.
- sp332 5y agoFrom 2013 but yeah, what an unexpected thing to happen from a copy machine!
- solarkraft 5y ago(2013). The whole ordeal lead to a quite legendary presentation by David at CCC (german, no captions, live translation available but pretty bad): https://youtu.be/7FeqF1-Z1g0 https://youtu.be/7FeqF1-Z1g0 If you speak german and haven’t seen this yet, watch it, this is a classic. His talks are all entertaining and interesting.
- 5- 5y agothe c3 page links to english captions in progress: https://c3subtitles.de/talk/381/#eng https://c3subtitles.de/talk/381/#eng any appetite among the german speakers to finish them?
- maxnoe 5y agoThere is a version with an English voice over of the original talk here: https://youtu.be/zXXmhxbQ-hk https://youtu.be/zXXmhxbQ-hk And the talk he gave in English himself here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=c0O6UXrOZJo https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=c0O6UXrOZJo
- xupybd 5y agoJbig2 sounds like a bad option for a photocopier. They should not attempt to parse what they're copying.
- _Microft 5y agoVery tangentially related: did you know that photocopiers recognize a particular pattern of circles to detect if someone attempts to copy a banknote? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EURion_constellation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EURion_constellation
