Chip shortage's cause has been found. It boils down to one company, says report
- raxxorrax 5y agoEh, this doesn't add up. I would expect TI to consume a gigantic amount of chips but why should they be solely responsible.
- Arnt 5y agoTI makes over fifty thousand different parts. They're small and mostly cheap (an A/D converter here, a tiny embedded processor there), but there are fifty thousand of them, so if they're in short supply, a lot of devices are difficult to build. https://www.ti.com/data-converters/dac-circuit/precision/overview.html https://www.ti.com/data-converters/dac-circuit/precision/ove... is a sample page. Click around the product tree.
- raxxorrax 5y agoAh, I misread the article. I have read it in a way that their consumption is so large that others have to go without chips.
- happytiger 5y agoIt’s be awesome if people who level accusations included evidence.
- rasz 5y agoYes, inability of TI to ramp up is the reason for lack of STMicroelectronics microcontrollers and Diodes.inc diodes!!1. Somehow TI managed to influence those independent companies with their totally separate fabs located on different continents. Checks out.
