Facebook whistleblower: Europe can show the world how to fix social media
- raxxorrax 5y ago> If you get the DSA right for your linguistically and ethnically diverse 450 million EU citizens, you can create a game-changer for the world The EU hasn't any really channels towards its own inhabitants aside from a few fervent fans and it maybe wants to change that. This is purely about power of officials and they justify their grasp on content with democracy, which the EU institutions still lack by design, reforms pending indefinitely. This will not improve the net in any way, the commission is just discussion further and extended mass surveillance. Yes, there is "misinformation" on the internet, not every piece of information is true. See that 12 years old in the corner laughing? He is laughing at you... This article is an uncritical joke. That said, there are some good components to the DSA, if they don't get sabotages by this weird appearance about content moderation. Platform/publisher differentiation will be strengthened. Of course politics turned it around, you become a publisher if you do NOT remove objectionable content. That is the current sorry state and they even want to increase content moderation by state. They also tried to institutionalize Blockwarts, by giving state sanction organisations special content flagging rights. No further comment, the descriptor is accurate enough. Not a single European citizen will gain anything from this. Certainly not safety. It will neither reign in big tech and it provides a severe threat to freedom of expression. What a wonderful political compromise and it will institutionalize social media propaganda institutions. I want to again mention that the article isn't good. Most idiotic part: Platforms have to show content from large publishers and they have to pay publishers for showing that content? You think this is a joke? Nope, this is the EU. Perhaps the British weren't that stupid after all... It should again be said that reading this article is worthless.
