Quantum computers to run Sydney’s transport network
- gus_massa 5y agoIt looks like this is the beginning of a project, perhaps with an experimental small setup. It's annoying that they mix the current capacity of the system with the planed future capacity once it's fully working in an unspecified timeline.
- dekhn 5y agothis looks like the most false thing I've ever seen. You don't need QC to solve transport problems. What, are you suddenylu going to get a magic optimizer that couldn't do what classic optimizers have done for decades?
- rich_sasha 5y agoAFAIK quantum is well-suited to the kind of discrete optimisation problems that transportation generates. Our solution methods in many cases reduce to clever brute-force.
- killingtime74 5y agoI’m from Sydney and you don’t need a quantum computer to help you improve public transport…plenty of obvious improvements already
- trebligdivad 5y agoI bet this is someone who read about the 'travelling salesman problem' and quantum computers and put 3 and 3 together.
