- FDSGSG 5y agoIn many EU countries it's definitely not illegal to use your smartphone while driving. Distracted driving is illegal, but using your smartphone doesn't automatically mean that you were distracted any more or less than using your car touchscreen would. The real truth is that enforcement is non-existent and almost nobody gets in trouble for using a phone while driving even if it's specifically forbidden.
