Experiments in the Revival of Organisms – Russian Dog Head Experiment [video]
- sillysaurusx 5y agoI always assumed this was propaganda, and that it can’t possibly have been real. But I see people talking in the comments like it isn’t fake. What’s the modern consensus? Has anyone done a thorough investigation? If it’s real, have there been similar experiments? This can’t be the only one.
- smusamashah 5y agoI asked about authenticity of it long time ago on https://skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/20335/is-this-video-of-the-soviet-dog-revival-experiment-real https://skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/20335/is-this-v... and the answer was that it was technically possible even then.
- CoolGuySteve 5y agoAmericans transplanted a monkey head in the 70s, footage of that is easy to find. It was apparently inspired by this Soviet research.
- xwdv 5y agoThe dog revival is real. It is possible to revive something that has been dead for 10 minutes under those conditions. Not particularly mind blowing today but probably was back then. The dog head might be real, but the way the head moves kinda makes me feel like it isn’t. The body might have just been hidden away from view and the dog paralyzed or restrained somehow.
- canjobear 5y agoThe proper set and setting for this video is very late at night, alone, at the end of a long Youtube binge into increasingly disturbing subjects
- cronix 5y ago...tomorrow night, Halloween?
- marcodiego 5y agoYou're no longer allowed to watch this video unless you log in into youtube/google. I've watched this video other times, but being unable to watch it now because of youtube/google policies bothers me a lot. Anyone knows a way (not other source) to watch/download the video?
- gpas 5y agoinvidious has no restrictions https://inv.riverside.rocks/watch?v=K_T8OuYIfhM https://inv.riverside.rocks/watch?v=K_T8OuYIfhM
- marcodiego 5y agoThanks! Does it contains the whole youtube collection?
- gpas 5y agoI think so, it's an alternative frontend to youtube servers. Like NewPipe on android. More on the project page [0]. [0] https://github.com/iv-org/invidious https://github.com/iv-org/invidious
- codetrotter 5y agoyt-dlp for example is able to download videos with age restrictions without you having to log in to any account. yt-dlp "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_T8OuYIfhM" The audio and video data is merged into a video file that is saved into the directory where you executed yt-dlp. After the command has finished downloading and merging the file you can open the video file using your media player of choice such as for example mpv or VLC. If you are on macOS and have homebrew installed, you can install yt-dlp with: brew install yt-dlp The yt-dlp people have an individually maintained tap for it as well, but since yt-dlp is available via the main homebrew registry which is generally also up to date I prefer to install it from the homebrew one instead of using the individually maintained tap. For Linux distros it will depend on how up to date packages are in the package repository you are using. You want yt-dlp to be updated to the latest version every now and then since yt-dlp may break when YouTube make changes to their service. So for many Linux distros and likewise for Windows you may want to install yt-dlp using pip. python3 -m pip install --upgrade yt-dlp
- Mattasher 5y agoBrandy Schillache wrote a great book about these experiments and full body transpants for humans. Check out: Mr. Humble & Dr. Butcher I interviewed her for The Filter also recommend :) https://mattasher.com/2021/07/25/ep-37-brandy-schillace-on-head-transplants-and-soul-searching/ https://mattasher.com/2021/07/25/ep-37-brandy-schillace-on-h...
- muxator 5y agoThe film is from 1940, and it is in the public domain. No need to sign in to YT. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d7/Experime1940.ogv https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d7/Experime...
- smusamashah 5y agoThis is from 1940. Longer 20 minute version https://youtu.be/VtDQc-4wGvM https://youtu.be/VtDQc-4wGvM
- kingcharles 5y agoThink how much better these experiments could be conducted 80 years later.
- telaelit 5y agowhat makes you think they’re not still doing experiments like this?
- bryanrasmussen 5y agobecause with 80 years of experiments dog-headed robots would be available for military use.
- rsj_hn 5y agoreviving the old saw about whether it's better to fight a dog-headed robot or a robot-headed dog.
- xwdv 5y agoEven if we had the tech it wouldn’t be practical. Dogs are cheap and easy to get more, they are also commonly upgraded with titanium teeth and bullet proof vests, and soon may have AR goggles for more precise commands.
- Apocryphon 5y agoWhy use AR when you can upload their consciousnesses to a VR paradise while they control robotic battle suits?
