My big problem with licensure/curriculum standards are that they create a pipeline for the Pearson's of the world to siphon public dollars in the name of "teaching". School boards concerned with choosing a standards-conforming textbook never got in trouble for choosing Pearson.
But constant testing and metrics seems to be what a lot of parents want, in my experience as a parent.

- dls2016 5y agoMy guess is socialization. The people I have in mind have found above average success in life and probably got good grades themselves. They have internalized the "fact" that education = worksheets + tests + grades. And this is the lens through which they manage their children's education.
