Our society is troubled. Beware those who blame it all on big tech
- juanani 5y agoBig tech is just the tool. Blame the ones who allow/perform nefarious deeds with it. Even lack of legislation to curb the tool's negative externalities should be considered nefarious. Oh but they can all fake tech ignorance 'til the grave. We shouldn't allow dinosaurs to bury us with them..
- h2odragon 5y agoRight. Most of our troubles can be laid at the feet of long established media giants. They've been fucking up the world for decades or centuries, as oppesed to the "come lately" big tech wannabes.
- LinuxBender 5y agoBig tech just put us all in the same swimming pool. We used to be in our own kiddie pools only splashed with our friends from the same pool. Putting a lot of tribes in the same big pool comes with risk and gives one pool management company a lot of power.
- raxxorrax 5y ago> when Brexit has enabled rightwing politicians and press to engage in the most divisive, dangerous rhetoric I believe the most divisive rhetoric was and still is present in academia, the plump separation in victims and oppressors. The right is reactionary to that, but the source of the conflict are clearly reality starved academic circles that firmly believe they know better without the necessary facilities to even utter coherent ideas. And this was gladly taken up by media that loves to show us the most warped and absurd personalities because it guarantees attention and clicks.
- bush-bby 5y agoCouldn’t agree more. A large amount of “I know what’s right and therefore it is my job to tell you”. Don’t get confused however, this is often times just a thinly veiled attempt at gaining control over others…not so much the “moral help” many assert their actions and rhetoric to be.
