Conspiracy theories bypass people’s rationality
- raxxorrax 5y agoThose that turned out true must have bypassed the rationality of those that didn't believe them too. There are more outlandish ones around. By definition every form of investigation is a conspiracy theory at first, not just the easy to sell QAnons.
- LinuxBender 5y agoThere are certainly some interesting conspiracies that one would imagine should not register and validate in a rational mind. It might be fun to create one large table of conspiracies that evolves with time to see which ones turned out to have what percentage of truth and which ones started off as jokes or memes on 4chan. A wiki of sorts but without the weaknesses of wikipedia. The wiki should include which theories were tainted by activists trying to squelch conversations and list those that tainted the theories as well as those that proved or disproved a theory and with ranking on confidence, circumstantial evidence, anecdotal data and imperical evidence. A peer-reviewed style database like PubMed for theories but with more scrutiny and higher quality peer reviews than PubMed. Now, how to host this in a way that governments or even more powerful entities like 4chan can't influence or destroy it?
