When i share my Linux desktop in a Teams call with developers and they see how I can run multiple ssh sessions in tmux running in a drop down Tilda terminal, connecting to 5 or 6 servers and running commands within a few seconds, and then those same developers try to do the same on windows, using mobaxterm and they get lost in sub menu hell and modal prompts i just cry a little inside. so much time wasted clicking through pointless menus, not just theirs but everyone in the meeting
- vips7L 5y agoEverything you described just works on Windows. I have a drop down quake style terminal with windows terminal and it supports multiple tabs and sessions via OpenSSH. Combined with powershell it’s a really pleasant experience. All of this is developed and supported by Microsoft too.
- mrintegrity 5y agoGreat, what's it called? I will forward the link to the dev team in question :)
- theli0nheart 5y agoI don’t know what the OP was referring to but WSL is Linux on Windows. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/ https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/
- indymike 5y agoSo run Linux inside Windows to fix Window?

- ModernMech 5y agoThis is an issue with their proficiency, not their OS. Windows Terminal is amazing, as it integrates PowerShell with WSL; you can run a full bash session in Ubuntu on Windows next to a full PowerShell instance. I can start my Windows laptop directly to a console, and never even look at a GUI. edit: I think the sibling comment is making the same point. Here is the link: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/terminal/ https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/terminal/
- mrintegrity 5y agoexcellent, i have been detatched from the windows desktop world for so long i had no idea they had managed to catch up like this, assuming it works smoothly it seems pretty cool, thanks!
