Have any of these CPU security features (e.g. SGX from Intel) ever ended up working out? Seems like they always have some critical bug which is discovered too late.
- garaetjjte 5y agoIt doesn't seem to a bug though? Just that SME with IOMMU disabled doesn't play well with GPU drivers.
- mrlonglong 5y agoYes they need to fix the drivers before reenabling SME
- zinekeller 5y agoUnfortunately, the headline is misleading, it's technically not (it's still technically a flaw), but you would assume from context that it's a security flaw rather than a chipset I/O flaw.
- fulafel 5y agoYes, eg virtual memory, virtualization, iommu, nx bit, boot security/drm as used in consoles, come to mind.
