How many hours did you work yesterday, this week, this month?
Idle curiosity, how many hours did you work. Where work is number of hours claimed to boss, timekeeping software etc.
- rudasn 5y agoAfter many years of remote working and being mostly "always on", I have recently started a somewhat strict 9 - 3 working day. No weekends. Definetely more productive now, but maybe is due to greater focus and discipline on my part.

- cm2012 5y agoI polled HN a while back : https://imgur.com/qdSltlM https://imgur.com/qdSltlM Looks like a perfect normal distribution around 4-8 hours a day, not affected by seniority. The original poll: https://strawpoll.com/47x15cf1 https://strawpoll.com/47x15cf1
- _prototype_ 5y agoI think a more interesting question is how many hours of actual work did you do in a day, as opposed to the company required hours. 8 hours a day required by company Probably work closer to 5.
- mikewarot 5y ago0 - I've been sick since last March, (long covid?!?) a few minutes of physical activity, and I have to rest for an hour or two. I'm no longer physically fit enough to make gears. If someone needed a grumpy old pascal programmer, that number could increase somewhat. ;-)
- tailspin2019 5y agoSorry to hear that. Hope you feel better soon!
- wilsonjohn 5y ago12, 60, 200 - have been a intense month for fundraise and getting the new version of product out
