I feel like a lot of people are commenting about sport, when the point of the article was an allegory about lazy or badly applied adoption of a practice...
Surely people actually read the article?..
- g051051 5y agoThe problem is the analogy doesn't map. You (supposedly) do agile to produce software faster/cheaper/better, but what is baseball making better? Playing baseball is the sole goal. So in that respect it's actually accurate...doing "agile" is the only goal.
- birdyrooster 5y agoI thought it was about playing pickup baseball when they were a kid with less people to play with.
- DeathArrow 5y agoIt is about AGILE methodology.
- jdlshore 5y ago“Agile” isn’t an acronym, so you don’t need to capitalize it. (It isn’t a methodology, either. It’s a philosophy of development or, if you prefer, a family of methodologies, such as Scrum, XP, and Kanban.)
- OldHand2018 5y ago> I feel like a lot of people are commenting about sport Take another look. They're just bikeshedding. Everyone knows that if the US would just change the name, they'd win the World Cup. That's clearly the most important thing.
- MarkLowenstein 5y agoI'm bookmarking this conversation as a remarkable example of how certain styles of communication are missed by a lot of people...probably the same phenomenon that obliges you to include "/sarc" lest you be obliged to entertain a long follow-up discussion.
- IshKebab 5y agoYeah the problem is that they're trying to say "Agile is like baseball - it doesn't work if you make all sorts of misguided improvements to it. You need to stick to the original, then it will be great." But baseball was a poor choice because original baseball is bad.
