Even cigarette companies eventually stopped targeting children for harmful products. Social media will get there some day, with enough legislation.

Cigarette companies didn't change their morals. The laws changed. In fact, they bought into the vape industry (at a time it could be marketed in a way that appeals to kids) after research showed that vaping was a gateway to cigarettes.

Exactly, it’s the legislation, not the companies that being change. Even FB can be hammered if the legislation had balls.

> Even cigarette companies eventually stopped targeting children for harmful products. No, they didn't, really. They just have made it less overt when direct, and do the rest of it through the non-cigarette tobacco product firms they invest in. The whack-a-mole on that industry and its marketing of nicotine addiction to children is ongoing.

Not commenting on the whole FB thing, but your comparison is very very poor. Altria (one of the largest tobacco product seller) is the owner of the Juul company. They literally were told to stop marketing to children and then turned the ship around to push cotton candy-tasting nicotine to minors.

Vape shops certainly do. This place down the road from Netflix HQ has kid-friendly posters of baby Groot, Spiderman, etc. in its windows. https://www.google.com/maps/@37.2803855,-121.9498283,3a,37.5y,297.73h,90.33t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sTEX-SIP133n4ByGaUwWOcg!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3DTEX-SIP133n4ByGaUwWOcg%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D13.750483%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i16384!8i8192 https://www.google.com/maps/@37.2803855,-121.9498283,3a,37.5...
