I thought this was a troll. I feel that the identifying of CEOs of big companies as a protected class may have been a tipping of the hat. There seems to be a common strategy by right wing accelerationists that involve masquerading as left wing and pushing things into absurdity.
- andrew_ 5y agoOr there are left wing actors that are truly absurd. I'd believe that before tinfoil theories about bad actors.
- taneq 5y ago> There seems to be a common strategy by right wing accelerationists that involve masquerading as left wing and pushing things into absurdity. Or does there? The truly disturbing aspect of so many things like this is that (as per Poe's Law) it's impossible to distinguish cynical mockery from earnestly-held extremism.
- User23 5y agoI was wondering if some of the weirdness is machine translation from Japanese. Anyone know?
- morpunkee 5y agoWe don't know the nationality of this hmdne guy, possibly Arabic.
- dfgjnirf 5y ago4chan /pol/ does this stuff all the time. The OK as white power sign, the Free Bleeding movement as just a few off the top of my head. But then there are antifastonetoss which I'm pretty sure are actually fans of stonetoss using a loophole to avoid getting banned. These people cannot operate in the open and have found other ways to operate. I can't tell if it fits the Ruby CoC case. I'm just keeping an open mind to the possibility.
- taneq 5y agoOh totally, I didn't mean to imply there weren't actors out there doing shady bad-faith false-flag things. There totally are. It's just that sometimes (often?) what they post is indistinguishable from the real thing.
- raxxorrax 5y agoBest case to make a point on the internet is to argue the opposite and doing that very badly.
- rat87 5y agobut white supremacists including those on 4chan /pol/ have used OK as an actual racist sign. That may not be the dominant meaning of the symbol but it is one that exists.
- mpweiher 5y agoAnd we let white supremacists hijack our language?
- rat87 5y agoNazis basically took over the Swastika, a symbol with thousands of years of use, in at least half of the world. https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-29644591 https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-29644591 I'm not saying we should or that random neo-nazis have that same power to take over it but we should acknowledge that some uses of the symbol are racist
