How many are going into that versus learning AWS? Find me the 3 month bootcamp to become a semiconductor engineer and I’ll stop this shortage in 3 months, promise.
- nradov 5y agoThere's no such thing as a talent shortage. If the semiconductor firms were really desperate for new workers then they would hire anyone who applies and then pay for their training.
- xyzzy21 5y agoActually it is. Automation in the industry is already near 90% of activities. Labor costs are NOT the biggest part of running a fab. Most people on a fab floor are people repairing or adjusting the equipment. Everything else is 100% robotic. The issue is adjusting and repairing can be pretty technical - an MS/PhD in physics or EE is pretty common for these people. It's not actually "low skill technician" work.
