Circumstances changed. They promised to never sell based on their perception of how circumstances would evolve even in the most ambitious scenario at the time, I’d imagine.
- quantified 5y agoNaive employees. Companies will break their promises eventually. C’mon, Google no longer promises not to do evil.
- onion2k 5y agoNot true. https://abc.xyz/investor/other/google-code-of-conduct/ https://abc.xyz/investor/other/google-code-of-conduct/ The last line is "And remember… don’t be evil, and if you see something that you think isn’t right – speak up!" The stories about Google removing the line were wrong. They just moved it from the start to the end of the document.
- h_anna_h 5y ago> and if you see something that you think isn’t right – speak up! ...and get fired
- john_yaya 5y agoThanks for this. Like so many people, I’ve long believed the myth that they removed it - though I can hardly be blamed, since A-list tech media have reported it as true.
- anothernewdude 5y agoSure. But they'd be more honest removing it.
- 10729287 5y agoThey're just asking their employee to not be evil there, not saying they won't as a company. You'be been (evil) tricked.
- quantified 5y agoThank you.
