- Symbiote 5y ago> American's QED. I think it helps that Norwegian, Swedish and Danish are all very similar to English in grammar – but with less flexibility, e.g. a sloppy but understandable word order in English might make no sense at all if spoken in Danish.
- Scoundreller 5y agoThat’s typical. I’m learning French as a second language at one of the formal institutes and whenever I go on French social media, I have absolutely no idea what anyone is talking about because grammar and spelling go out the window, and the slang and shortcuts start.
- soundnote 5y agoIt's less teaching and more the exposure. Teaching languages is mostly a waste of time because schools do it wrong. But Nordic countries are so small you can't dub everything the way Germany or France do so most TV is only subtitled, video games, Internet and a lot of music are in English. You learn by osmosis.
