Computer Engineering for Babies Book
- gruez 5y agoThis is less "Computer Engineering for Babies" and more "logic gates for babies". While understanding logic gates might be useful if you're going into hardware, it's not really necessary for software. I also doubt whether babies posses enough abstract thinking to go from logic gates -> computers, or even logic gates -> adders.
- beefok 5y agoI guess you need to define what a computer engineer is. To me, (as a computer engineer,) logic gates are a critical portion of my work. I would consider this a classical starting path towards what encompasses the discipline. Of course, software is part of the degree as well, but for most computer engineers, that means bare-metal/RTOS embedded programming rather than higher level software engineering. In my opinion, this is a neat start to the process and encourages learning concepts of how digital electronics work. Whether babies can grasp these concepts is up for debate. :)
- amelius 5y agoHow does it detect which page is active? Guess: magnets and reed relays?
- opwieurposiu 5y agoLooks like there are a series of holes with light sensors at the bottom. The first page exposes 1 hole, the second page 2, etc.
- amelius 5y agoI didn't see that at first! This might be an issue with the child inadvertently covering the holes. On the other hand, it might open up new avenues of research ...
- GoodJokes 5y agoI am of the mind that maybe babies should be enjoying their life rather than upping their work skills. Is this book needed?
