That's great until someone else tries to use your program.
I'll take the compile-time safety checks, thanks.
- dunefox 5y agoAs we know no bugs are present in statically typed programs.
- IshKebab 5y agoNobody claimed that, but there definitely are fewer. 15% fewer according to the only study I've seen that objectively measured it.
- dunefox 5y agoLink? I'm not certain that there's a way to objectively measure that on a scale that matters.
- IshKebab 5y agohttps://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/7985711 https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/7985711 Basically they took random JavaScript bugs and annotated them with Flow and Typescript type hints and then checked whether the bug was detected. Pretty clever methodology really.
- bitmapper 5y agoAnd then when things like dependent types get involved, I'm betting that the amount of bugs greatly decreases, even more than that.
