I have no reason to believe that the picture in their tweet was the item seized in this instance. They could be using a stock photo. But hey, why worry about tainting the jury pool, right? Guilty!
- Dylan16807 5y ago> But hey, why worry about tainting the jury pool, right? Guilty! How many people do you think follow that twitter account? Even if half the citizens have prior knowledge of a case, you'd just pick the jury out of the other half.
- cryptonector 5y agoIt's in the news story. No one need follow that twitter handle just to see those pictures.
- shallowthought 5y agoGod my life would be so much easier if I could just choose which half of America the jury pool came from.
- krastanov 5y agoJury selection is a thing and it is used heavily exactly for the goal you described. Usually the problem is that people with public defenders bullied by the prosecutors settle before even reaching a jury.
- tyingq 5y agoThe original photo is from the Mercury News and credited to the Morgan Hill police department. https://web.archive.org/web/20210827050158/https://www.mercurynews.com/2021/08/26/signal-jammer-found-at-morgan-hill-residence/ https://web.archive.org/web/20210827050158/https://www.mercu... Somewhat interestingly, the photo is no longer in the story, hence the wayback link. Though the hi-res photo itself remains: https://www.mercurynews.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/SJM-L-MHJAM-0827.jpg https://www.mercurynews.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/SJM-L...
