The headline implies the self-driving vehicle was driving itself. This was not the case.
> According to Toyota, the self-driving vehicle had stopped at a T-junction and was about to make a turn under manual control of the operator using a joystick. The vehicle then collided with the athlete going at a speed of around 1 or 2 km/hr.
- kadoban 5y agoThat wording is so ambiguous. "The vehicle then collided". Is that saying the human was _about_ to turn, but didn't, and the vehicle moved on its own, or the human operator did it?
- d13 5y agoI agree it makes no sense. Did the collision happen autonomously just before the driver attempted to take over manual control?
