Who would crank the pump? Narrow body twin jets can burn in the range of 5 gallons of fuel per minute. That’s a lot of fuel to move with a hand pump.

    Like on 17th century sea voyage, passengers would have to take a turn on the pumps if the ship started to founder in a storm…
